NPL Women Match Preview: Round 4 vs Alamein
Box Hill United’s Senior Women are home for a second straight week on Friday night, this time against Alamein FC in a crucial game for both sides.
Pythagoras are searching for their opening win of the season and just need to find their cutting edge in front of goal to open up the floodgates.
Alamein will have the same eagerness and desire to claim all three points as they have a draw from their opening three matches.
It is still early in the 2024 campaign with a win for either team opening up the chance of jumping a few spots up the table.
Alamein players to watch:
After failing to score in their opening two games, Alamein put up a spirited effort against South Melbourne in a 2-2 draw.
Rebecca Saber was one of the players to score, a forward who re-signed for the 2024 season. She got five goals from 18 appearances in the 2023 NPL Women season.
Sidney Allen is another re-signing that is an instrumental part of the Alamein line up. The former Heidelberg United midfielder is not only the captain but was the top goal scorer in 2023 with 13 goals in 20 matches that put her third overall in the golden boot race.
Last time we met:
In the penultimate game of the 2023 NPL Women season, Box Hill United suffered a 2-0 defeat at Wembley Park.
It was Allen and Saber in the first and second half respectively who did the damage on the night.
