Michael Romas to lead from the front in 2024
Box Hill United’s Senior Men captain Michael Romas is a model of persistence and hard work, and the clinical forward has his eyes set on leading this squad towards instant success with his wealth of experience at the NPL level.
Romas, who models the way he plays on Cristiano Ronaldo, was a talisman last season, scoring eight goals in 13 appearances for Nunawading before making an instant impact for Box Hill United with a tally of five goals in seven games.
Romas started playing junior football back home in Adelaide and impressively spent some time in the Adelaide Youth team.
He joined Box Hill United mid-way through last season from Nunawading where he enjoyed a long career rising through the junior and U20 ranks and then into the senior first team squad and starting XI.
He now enters the 2024 season as the club’s skipper and main number nine, and rightfully has huge expectations on his and the team’s performance going into a very ambitious season under Tony Merakis.
“As a team, we want to win the league and get promoted, 100%. We want to put on a bit of a show for the fans,” Romas said when asked about what his ambitions were.
“Individually I want to kick as many goals as I can.”
Romas has a message for the Box Hill United fans heading into a crucial 2024 campaign:
“Get down and support the boys. It’s going to be a good year; we are going to be up there in the table,” he said.
“We’re going to play exciting football which includes winning a lot of games and scoring a lot of goals.”
