NPL Women Match Preview: Round 14 at Preston Lions
Box Hill United’s Senior Women travel to B.T Connor Reserve on Friday night, in Round 14 of NPL Women.
Pythagoras put in a strong performance against Bentleigh Greens in the previous round, leading to a 2-1 win over the visitors.
With a returning Sofia Sakalis and Olivia Johnston finding the net, the Senior Women have scored at least one goal in their last eight matches with the determination on show.
An attack-minded outfit themselves, Preston Lions are the second-highest scoring team in the 2024 season with 34 – only ladder-leaders FC Bulleen Lions better that figure with 36.
An entertaining contest awaits as both sides will use attack as the best form of defence.
Preston Lions players to watch:
Haley Johnson has the second-most goals in the 2024 NPL Women season with 11, going at nearly a goal per game on average. Only Boroondara Eagles’ Gabrielle Hollar has more with 15.
Ellie Lamonte is another player to get in on the goal scoring action with seven from 13 games, where she has made every appearance like the aforementioned Johnson.
Last time we met:
Round 3 of the 2024 NPL Women season saw Box Hill United host Preston Lions in the reverse fixture.
A second-half goal from substitute Miri Nishimura was the difference as the visiting Lions came away with a 1-0 result.
