Taofiq Olomowewe: “We want it to be absolutely rocking here”

Box Hill United is pleased to announce the signing of 27-year-old defender Taofiq Olomowewe.

Olomowewe, born in London, spent time in Premier League side Burnley’s youth ranks before gracing the pitches of multiple reputable clubs across England. For the 2024 season, Olomowewe has decided to move halfway across the world and embark on his Australian footballing journey with Box Hill United.

“This is my first time in Australia – it’s good, hot and the football is different,” he said.

“I’m enjoying life and looking forward to representing Box Hill United.”

Standing at 189cm, Olomowewe is a central defender that will help thwart opposing attackers. Olomowewe compares his playing style to England and Tottenham Hotspur legend Ledley King.

“When I was younger, I tried to model my game off Ledley King,” Olomowewe shared.

“These days, I don’t try to be anyone other than the best version of myself to help my teammates.”

Despite his undeniable ability, Olomowewe maintains a remarkable attitude. His displays of humility and team-oriented mindset mean everything at Box Hill United. Due to these factors, the coaching staff at Box Hill United have already appointed Olomowewe as a vice-captain for the coming season.

Along with this attitude comes ambition, where Olomowewe has set his sights on a clear target.

“I’m team based; I want promotion,” he said.

“However it happens, my ultimate goal is to win and to help secure promotion for Box Hill.”

As a newcomer to the club and the area, Olomowewe is keen to form an attachment with the Box Hill United community. He summarised this in a message to the Box Hill faithful.

“Hopefully we see you soon, packing out the stadium,” he said.

“We want it to be absolutely rocking here.

“We want you to create an atmosphere where opponents aren’t looking forward to playing at Wembley.”
