VPL 2 Men Match Preview: Round 2 at North Sunshine Eagles

Box Hill United will be seeking a response when they head to Larissa Reserve to face North Sunshine Eagles on Saturday night.

Pythagoras were put to the test last Friday by Pascoe Vale FC in a 3-0 loss, but it was a great occasion to welcome the 2024 season with strong support at Wembley Park.

While the result didn’t go our way, it was an ideal opponent to see how the squad would measure up and will now have good learnings to take into Round 2.

In the upcoming match up, North Sunshine Eagles have started in red-hot form, putting five goals past Doveton SC in their season opener.

The Eagles finished third in the league last season and will be a chance for Pythagoras to disrupt their rhythm.

North Sunshine players to watch:

The clear first and second top goal scorers in 2023 with 16 and 15 in the league respectively, Redouane Sarakh and Nicholas Epifano have picked up from where they left off. Against Doveton, Sarakh scored twice to seal his brace, while Epifano was one of four unique goal scorers overall.

Last time we met:

Koki Miyamoto was the star for Box Hill United with his two goals enough to seal a 2-0 win over North Sunshine Eagles in Round 13, 2023 of NPL 3 Victoria.

His brace in the second half was enough to treat Wembley Park to a big win.
