Olivia Ellis: “I’m ready to play a full season and support the team in the best way I can”
Box Hill United FC is delighted to confirm 24-year-old defender Olivia Ellis will represent our women’s side in 2024.
Ellis’ talent has led her to represent clubs all over the world including A-League Women’s side Melbourne City FC and U.S.A collegiate side Oregon State University. Ellis was even able to represent the country for the Young Matilda’s when she was 17.
Even with her expansive resume, Ellis still loves to call Wembley Park and Box Hill United her home. As a former Box Hill youth player, Ellis has formed a deep connection to the club.
“I started playing for Box Hill United at the age of six,” she said.
“I remember the first time my Mum dropped my sister to play at Wembley, I told her I also wanted to play one day.
“The next week I was signed up to play and I haven’t looked back.”
Ellis’ defensive prowess and versatility provide a surplus of ability to the team’s backline, but it’s her attitude and leadership that make her so valuable to Box Hill United.
Having some struggles with injury in the past, Ellis mentioned that one of her main ambitions is to play a full season for the club.
“I’d like to prioritise my health this year,” she said.
“I’m ready to play a full season and support the team in the best way I can.”
As the women’s team gears up for the 2024 season, Ellis has made a call-out to the supporters at home:
“Keep cheering for us, we all appreciate your support,” she shared.
“You guys are the best!”
