Goals flowing for the Senior Women as they get set for Bentleigh Greens

Box Hill United’s Senior Women will host Bentleigh Greens at Wembley Park on Friday night, in Round 13 of NPL Women.

Following an entertaining and high-scoring encounter against Brunswick Juventus that ended 4-3 in Pythagoras’ favour, the attacking prowess was on full display and will bring great confidence into the upcoming fixture.

With a brace to Rhianna Pollicina, plus single goal contributions from Elwen Parbery and Deven Jackson, it brought great thrills and excitement as the game ebbed and flowed throughout the day.

Bentleigh Greens will be eager to impress, currently in a tight battle between Calder United and Brunswick Juventus in similar positions on the ladder.

Bentleigh Greens players to watch:

Olivia Bomford leads the way for Bentleigh Greens goals with four, while she has made all 12 appearances so far this campaign.

Coco Parker is another to have played every game, where she has scored two goals for the Greens.

Last time we met:

Round 2 of the 2024 NPL Women season was at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex, where the Greens recorded a 1-0 victory.

Bomford’s goal in the second half made the difference for Bentleigh in a game of many chances.

Coaches corner:

Head Coach Bobby Zdravkovski shared his thoughts on the contest with Brunswick Juventus at CB Smith Reserve.

“It was a good performance, however we did make life difficult for ourselves where we could have put it to bed at 4-2 or 3-1 up,” he said.

“Credit to Brunswick who came back at us, in moments we found it tough with second and long balls.

“Due to a injury to Elwen Parbery we needed to readjust our shape when she was substituted off, where our system worked at the start but took us a while to get going – once we did it allowed us to stretch the pitch more.

“Overall, it was a end-to-end game – as a spectator it would have been good to watch, but when you are in those situations where clear-cut chances are not always finished, it can make things harder. Brunswick didn’t stop trying so it made for a high-scoring game.”
