Nick Weller: “The culture is great, it’s part of the reason I’ve been here for so long”
Box Hill United FC is pleased to confirm that 21-year-old midfielder Nick Weller has re-signed with the Club for the 2024 season.
Weller has truly personified the Box Hill United spirit over his 14 years with the club. He spent his youth development with Box Hill United’s Miniroos program before representing the club at the U14 – U21 level. This upcoming season will be Weller’s third with the senior squad.
With plenty of new and exciting talent joining the squad this season, Weller is keen for his new teammates to get involved and be a part of the club culture.
“I want the new players to soak in and value the club culture here at Box Hill,” he said.
“The culture is great, it’s part of the reason I’ve been here for so long.
“I hope they all come into their new environment and appreciate what the club is all about.”
Weller is a tough and well-rounded midfielder. He can keep the ball progressing in possession but is also a defensive force out of possession. During his development, he idolised and tried to model his game after former Box Hill United captain Nick Kokolakis.
Being a younger player, Weller is ready to take big steps in his development this season and recognises that as one of his major targets. However, Weller’s unselfish attitude means that he always prioritises the team over himself.
“I want play as much as possible,” he said.
“But first and foremost, I want the team to win games.
“Promotion and a league title is everyone’s goal this season.”
Excited to get the ball rolling for the 2024 season, Weller wrapped up his statement with a message to the fans.
“Get down and support as much as you can,” he shared.
“It’s so much better when all the fans are here.
“It is an amazing environment to play in front of and it goes a long way in helping us win games.”
