Nike F.C. Cup Match Preview: Round 4 at Calder United

Box Hill United begins their Nike F.C. Cup campaign when they head to Keilor Park Recreation Reserve to take on Calder United.

A confidence-boosting win for Pythagoras over Alamein FC will give them the impetus to push on and sustain this form to kick-start progress in the cup.

Calder United head into the cup tie with a mixed bag of results, currently sitting in 10th on the NPL Women table.

Interestingly, Calder United’s 10 goals so far is only bettered by FC Bulleen Lions with 11, but Calder have conceded the most goals with 11 – however their pedigree is still there off the back of a fourth-placed finish in NPL Women in 2023.

Calder United players to watch:

Akane Shimizu is equal second in a bunched up golden boot race so far in NPL Women, with four goals from three NPL Women matches. Notably two of those goals came in a 4-2 opening round defeat to FV Emerging.

In an attack-minded Calder side, Akeisha Sandhu is next best on the scoring charts with two goals from every game in NPL Women so far. She brings form into the cup fixture with a goal each against Brunswick Juventus and Heidelberg United in her last two appearances.

Last time we met:

A strong second half display capped off a successful away trip to Keilor Park Recreation Reserve as Box Hill United got the 3-1 victory over Calder United.

Asuka Doi helped herself to a brace, while Sofia Sakalis also got on the scoresheet.
