NPL Women Match Preview: Round 12 at Brunswick Juventus
Box Hill United travels to CB Smith Reserve in Round 12 of NPL Women on Saturday afternoon.
Pythagoras were defeated 3-1 by FV Emerging last time out, but with a strong performance the score didn’t fully reflect the nature of the day.
Brunswick Juventus’ debut season in NPL Women has been a tricky one, but they have plenty to offer and will be desperate to escape the relegation zone.
Brunswick Juventus players to watch:
Nicole Cooper is Brunswick’s top goal scorer with four goals in 11 matches, including a solitary goal in matchday 1.
Alyssa Smith is another to have played every game so far and has two goals to this point in the season.
Last time we met:
Opening round of the 2024 NPL Women season saw Brunswick Juventus record a 2-1 win over Box Hill United at Wembley Park.
Pythagoras took a 1-0 lead into half time through a Maryam Anvari wonder strike, before Nicole Cooper and Emma Perrone turned fortunes into Brunswick’s favour in a come-from-behind victory.
Coaches corner:
Senior Women’s Assistant Coach Theo Petrakis shared his thoughts on the recent match with FV Emerging:
“All of the girls fought really hard in a physical contest,” he said.
“We’ve been getting really good results over the last month and even in this one we deserved a point.
“It was frustrating that some calls went against us involving penalties but we need to quickly move on from it.”
