Rhys Jones: “This group has been unbelievable so far”

Box Hill United FC is pleased to confirm the acquisition of 23-year-old midfielder Rhys Jones who is joining for the 2024 season.

Jones has plenty of Australian footballing experience, first playing in the Queensland NPL representing Moreton Bay United, before spending the last three seasons with Collingwood City FC. Jones is a crafty and technical midfielder, usually deployed higher up the pitch as a number 10.

Jones, being a native Queenslander, spoke on how he has enjoyed life in Victoria and how he is settling into Box Hill United.

“It’s great here in Victoria and at Box Hill United,” he said.

“I’m enjoying it and looking forward to a big season.”

Despite being new to the club and the league, Jones’ attitude and mindset mean that he has high ambitions for the upcoming season and has set clear targets for himself and the team.

“Individually, I’m aiming for a double-digit goal tally,” he said.

“But more importantly from a team-based perspective, we will do what we can do win the league.

“We believe it’s extremely achievable for us.

“This group of boys has been unbelievable so far and will stop at nothing to try to secure the title.”

Jones, raring to go for the 2024 season, ended his statement with a quick message for the fans at home.

“Get down and come and support us – we look forward to seeing you,” he said.

“We promise that we won’t disappoint.”
