Sean Png: “After a great experience in America, it’s good to be back home”

Box Hill United FC is pleased to announce that midfielder Sean Png is joining the Senior Men’s squad for season 2024.

Png started at Box Hill United from a very young age, being a part of the youth set-up from U12’s upwards and had returned in 2023 after a stint in the US.

The 23-year-old models his game off two class midfielders in Andrew Cartanos and Luke Modric and hopes to learn more from the former this season as he takes up the Assistant Coach role.

Png discussed his playing career so far and where it has taken him up until 2024.

“I grew up playing at Box Hill and been playing here since the u12’s, so I’ve grown up through the ranks here,” he shared.

“Recently I went overseas to America for school and played in college over there and now I’m back in Box Hill.

“It was a great experience in America, I really matured over there but it’s good to be back home.”

As a team, there is a collective belief that the squad can achieve the league title and promotion, and Png backed it up.

“Everyone is saying our goal is to win the league – we are really ambitious this year and we have a good team so that’s the main goal,” he said.

“Individually, I want to get as many minutes as I can and help the team any way I can.”

Png has a message for the Box Hill United fans heading into 2024.

“Get down, support the boys and hopefully you can leave with a smile on your face.”
