Ruben Sanchez Marcano: “I will do my best to improve here at Box Hill in Australia”

Box Hill United FC is pleased to confirm the signing of Ruben Sanchez Marcano for the Senior Men’s squad.

Ruben arrives at Box Hill United having last played for Sydney Olympic and hopes to have an instant impact on a motivated squad in Head Coach Tony Merakis’ first full season.

From Torrelavega in Spain, Ruben has honed his craft in football after nine years in Spain playing in competitions including the Copa del Rey.

The attacking midfielder, who idolised Zinedine Zidane growing up as a kid, has a terrific passing range, a wealth of top level football experience and an eye for goal – all boding well to be a key cog in the midfield engine room under Merakis this season. Ruben mentioned the vast experience he has so far in his career.

“I have played most of my career in Spain at multiple different clubs and last season I played the last month of the season at Sydney Olympic,” he said.

Ruben has a clear plan on what he wants to achieve over his career as he starts his first full season in Australia.

“I want to be playing at the highest level and I will do my best to improve here at Box Hill in Australia,” he said.

Box Hill United’s playing group are unified in the goal to try and get promoted to VPL1 this season and Ruben has set the same goal in the hopes to improve as a player as well.

“Both individually and as a team, the main goal is to get promoted because if we do so, I am going to be a better player and so will my teammates as well, so this is my goal,” he mentioned.

Ruben is confident that Box Hill United will be an exciting team to watch and mentioned this in his message to the fans for 2024.

“Come to Wembley to see the team because we are training really well, have really good players and you will enjoy it this year,” he concluded.
