Pythagoras Senior Men travel to Beaumaris with eagerness to rebound
Box Hill United’s Senior Men head to Beaumaris Reserve on Saturday afternoon, in a second consecutive away trip.
For Pythagoras, last weekend the crosstown derby went the way of Nunawading City, with the hosts at Mahoneys Reserve getting a narrow 1-0 win through Tosan Popo’s solitary goal.
Upcoming opponents Beaumaris have had a difficult season so far, sitting in 12th spot on the ladder. However, a 1-0 victory over Goulburn Valley Suns a couple weeks ago in Round 9 will provide them a morale boost.
Beaumaris players to watch:
Sean Grella is the clear top goal scorer for Beaumaris and the side’s talisman – playing every match to date. His total of five goals so far in 2024 included a purple patch of form during April which saw four of his strikes come in that month.
Tom Richard’s two goals this season have both come in consecutive matches, against Goulburn Valley Suns and Doveton respectively over the past couple of games.
Last time we met:
Box Hill United hosted Beaumaris at Wembley Park in Round 18 of the 2023 league season.
Nikita Varelas’ second half goal was the difference maker as Pythagoras claimed a valuable win in the back half of the campaign.
