In a thrilling encounter against Altona City that ended in a 2-2 draw, Ruben Sanchez Marcano was a beacon of resilience for Box Hill United.

Despite the draw, his impact was undeniable as he notched up a brace, making a triumphant return after a gruelling two-month injury lay-off.

When questioned about his sentiments regarding the game, Marcano expressed a mix of satisfaction and disappointment.

“I feel good, a little bit disappointed for the draw,” he admitted.

“We deserved the win but I’m happy to play 90 minutes after being out for two months because of injury, it’s great to be in the team.”

The journey back from injury has been arduous for Marcano, who only recently made his return to action, initially coming off the bench last week before earning his first start on Friday night

Despite not feeling entirely prepared, he acknowledges the necessity of adapting swiftly.

“I don’t feel 100% ready but I have to get used to training,” he explained.

“This week was the first week of full training, so I will be better.”

Reflecting on his stunning goal, Marcano remained modest, acknowledging its significance while humbly placing it among his collection of memorable strikes.

“I have a lot of goals but this is one of the most beautiful goals in Australia,” he remarked.

The intensity of the game against Altona was palpable, with both teams fiercely vying for victory. Marcano emphasised the importance of maintaining such fervour to unlock their full potential.

“The intensity was high because both teams wanted to win,” he said.

“We have to keep this intensity going to show our best version of ourselves, and next week we’l try to win because we need these three points to go up in the table.”

Despite numerous stoppages disrupting the flow of the game, Marcano remained resolute, focusing on the task at hand and looking ahead to future challenges.

“We want to continue to play,” he affirmed.

“There were a lot of distractions and stoppages during the game but it’s football, it is what it is. We have to look forward to next week, do a good week of training, and try to get the three points.”

Marcano’s resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to his teammates and fans alike, underscoring his pivotal role in the team’s pursuit of success.

As the season progresses, his contributions are sure to be instrumental in propelling the team to greater heights.
